Music Requests

We welcome your music requests. We always attempt to play as many requests as possible, but we reserve the right not to play certain requests if we feel they are not appropriate for the event or group unless directed otherwise by you.

We ask for your requests right from the beginning, starting with your or your event committee. We provide a Planner that asks details on music preferences, Must Plays, Don't Plays, special theme music and so on as well as asking for a specific song & artist request list. We also take music requests at the event and we now offer our NEW ONLINE PRE-EVENT GUEST MUSIC REQUEST !!!

Here's how the GUEST MUSIC REQUEST WORKS.

When you receive written confirmation from us that the event has been booked, you will receive a password that will grant access to the Guest Music Request section of our website. This password can be published through your normal channels of communication.

Here's how you find the "GUEST MUSIC REQUEST" login. On the menu click on "GUEST SERVICES" you'll be taken to the GUEST SERVICES page.On the left of the page you'll see a menu of various Guest Services. Click on the one Labeled "Guest Music Requests", you'll be taken to the login page where all you have to do is follow the instructions in the center of the page.

As mentioned earlier, we also take requests at the event. Generally speaking, when we DJ your event we will have a request list on a clipboard on a table or on top of a speaker, possibly with a binder listing some of our available music selections. To request your music simply write out your selections on the list. The DJ will periodically check the list and and pull music from the list.

But PLEASE keep these things in mind:

If a song is being played or has recently been played on the radio, there is a good chance we have it. If it's brand new, we may not have it yet. Here's why. The music service that we get our music from bases its selections upon how successful a song is, based on radio airplay. Our service usually won't add the song until it has broken into the TOP 30 of the major radio formats. From their standpoint as well as ours, it doesn't make sense to waste money on a song that won't make it.

Remember your DJ is busy being a DJ!

He or She is responsible for maintaining the overall flow and mood of the event, so they will be busy finding songs, listening to up coming songs in the headphones, as well as running the sound and lighting equipment, and preparing announcements or coordinating other event activities.

Avoid asking the DJ questions or talking to the DJ ESPECIALLY if they have the headphones on over BOTH ears, it means they are working a mix! (and they probably won't hear you anyway!)

Don't bug the DJ with "When are you gonna play my song". Remember you aren't the only one requesting music! The DJ has to fit all the music together like a jigsaw puzzle, all the pieces have to fall into place in the proper sequence or the puzzle won't go together. When all the music falls into place you can feel the energy and excitement build!

Please don't ask the DJ if you can look through his or her's CDs.

Reason#1: Everything is in a particular order so songs can easily be found.

Reason#2: There usually isn't enough room in back by the music anyway without being in the way.

Reason#3: DJs generally don't use the same type of CDs you use. So you won't know what you're looking at anyway! DJs use services where various different artists and music formats are included as a weekly or monthly disc. (So don't ask for cut #2 of Artist X's latest CD, that won't mean a thing to the DJ.)

Reason#4: The Insurance Man doesn't like it when other people get into the DJ's stuff. When things go missing or get damaged, and insurance has to pay for it, sooner or later the cost of the DJ's insurance goes up, and when the DJ's operating cost go up, it means they have to charge more to cover those costs in order to make a profit.

REMEMBER: A professional DJ is a Business Person who works for their own company. (Read a book on owning your own business. You'll develop a whole new respect for those brave souls who choose to strike out on their own, instead of working for someone else.)
